Not sure if I ever showed this pic of me slope flying my DG - 1000 with a Bald Eagle a few years back..<br />
Span on the DG is 6.5ft.''2m'',, so you can figure the span on the eagle @ around 4 1/2 ft.<br />
That was my record ''totally unpowered'' slope flight of 1hr. & 2 min. I flew with the Eagle for about 4 min.<br />
He was real cool with me, & I think he was ''digg'n'' it. LOL.
Weather is real funky here in east central Iowa at the moment,,
& haven't got a chance to fly yet.
Think part of it is due to the air quality improved ,, due to less pollution in the air from the Pandemic, & people not driving ect..
They say that LA has the clearest skyline in decades .
Air pollution creates heat, & I think that's why the air temps have been cooler, & affecting the weather patterns.
Once I get to fly though, with the ground temps being higher than the air temps,, I think the sailplane flying should really benefit from this, creating more lift.
Started on the flyfield and ended up over the hill down in the creek! lol Too windy to fly, but not "FLY FISH"! Caught me a trout! - feeling happy
Here is a shot of my little 'hot rod' Orion sailing yacht, that I picked up from Scotland a couple months back. little sucker scoots,, & has a 'very' long keel & streamlined ballast bulb.
It shares parts with the DF 65,, which is currently the most popular club R/C sailing yacht in the world. We have a killer pond down the street, but also have a resident Gander Goose that doesn't like my boat. LOL
Got your email. Sure missed having the Finleyville fun fly anymore. I had fun being the resident DJ! To bad for all that wind! I'm a permanent resident of Florida now. Miss you guys!
Dave, check out the video on the right column with the cobra and Moki motor. Sounds awesome. He's from Mon Valley Club!
Here's an old one! Bill Weston, Smokin Joe, matt, Mike Wilson, and Charlie Erb. Most are still flying on my flyfield to this day! - feeling cool
Ran across an old picture of my Giant Telemaster. 150" wingspan with a sachs 4.2 motor. It was a glider tow plane.
Old time pic of me after winning the Quickee 500 race years ago at the old field. Look at dad's Rolling Rock plane!
